Scholarship Requirements & Descriptions
Completed applications must be submitted by March 31, 2024 to be considered for the scholarships.
There will be no exceptions to this deadline. Hand delivered applications will not be accepted.
All scholarships require applicants to meet eligibility and then complete and submit the JACGP Application. An official High School transcript is also required for each application.

JACGP Community Awards
The JACGP Community Awards are granted to students who have demonstrated outstanding engagement in activities with various community organizations. A student cannot receive both a Community Award and Leo Goto Memorial Service Award, but can apply for both.

JACGP Leo Goto Memorial Service Awards
The JACGP Leo Goto Memorial Service Awards are granted to students based upon their community service efforts and the personal sacrifice they have demonstrated among local Japanese American organizations. A student cannot receive both a Community Award and Leo Goto Memorial Service Award, but can apply for both.
This award also requires 1-2 Letters of Recommendation from an organizer of a volunteer program you’ve been a part of.

DBT Judo Dojo Sensei Memorial Scholarship
The DBT Judo Dojo Sensei Memorial Scholarship is granted to a student who shows outstanding involvement in the sport of Judo, as a dedication to the memory of Rocky Mountain Region Senseis.

Gary Lee Higa Friendship Award
The Gary Lee Higa Friendship Award is granted to a student who has prepared an expressive work in the spirit of “Friendship,” to honor Gary Lee Higa.

Robin Furuta Memorial Scholarship Award
The Robin Furuta Memorial Scholarship Award is granted to a student who has created an expressive piece in the realm of the Arts, to honor Robin Furuta.

Toshiaki and Jayne Yoshimura Award
The Toshiaki and Jayne Yoshimura Award is granted to a student who displays scholastic dedication, honoring Yoshimura’s spirit of independent thought.

Clara S. and Hideo Hirose Memorial Scholarship
Clara Shindo Hirose and Dr. Hideo Hirose believed in education, service and community. This award was created to remember and honor them.
